Papakura Marae is a kaupapa Māori health, social services, and resilience hub supporting whānau across Papakura from pēpē through to kaumātua. The marae is also a designated Community Emergency Hub, providing a trusted place for the community to come together, organise support, and access help in times of crisis.
Based at the marae, the team offers wraparound hauora care including Tamariki Ora well-child checks, school-based Mana Kidz clinics, free vaccination services, and support for long-term conditions through programmes like Oranga Ki Tua, Health Improvement Services, Te Kotuinga Hauora and Collective Impact.
Alongside health services, Papakura Marae provides a wide range of whānau and social supports, including Rangitamiro (formerly Whānau Ora), Family Start, Whānau Social Services, housing support, education and employment pathways, a Community Connector service and a food bank. They also partner in community-led justice and safety initiatives such as Te Pae Oranga, Te Kooti Rangatahi, MDCAT, Whānau Resilience, Fast Track for at-risk rangatahi, Jupl safety watches, ongoing Flood Resilience support following the 2023 floods, plus programmes like Te Kaupapa, FASD Navigator and Ngā Tini Whetu māmā & pēpē workshops. Together, these services create a welcoming, supportive place where whānau can access practical help, healing and opportunities to thrive close to home.
